Piano Services and Rates

Pianos are complex finger-powered engines with more that 16,000 parts. Little Orchestra offers services from regular tunings to complete rebuilds.

Rebuilding: $5,000-$20,000+
By far my favorite work to do. Repair and rebuilding happen when parts have worn down and need to be replaced, or an accident has occurred and things need to be fixed. Prices and timeframes vary greatly depending on repair, extent of damage or cost of parts.

Regulation: $250-$1,600
Pianos wear at different rates depending on the make, the player, and how often the piano gets played. If tuning is the oil change of the piano, regulation is like the 100k work that needs to be done on your piano for the playability to feel effortless and smooth. Regulation can be tailored to the clients desires in how they would like the touch to feel.

Pitch Raise and Tune: $215
A pitch raise is needed when the piano has not been tuned in more than 1 year and/or it’s been through a move. Essentially, I tune the piano twice in one sitting. The first pass is to put the correct tension on the strings. The second one to make the piano musical. This brings the piano up to pitch safely and with stability to stay at pitch. This usually takes closer to two hours and also includes small repairs, pedal adjustments and full inspection.

Standard Tuning: $155
A standard tuning is when the piano has been tuned regularly and usually within the last year or so. This appointment usually takes about an hour and includes small repairs (like a sticky key), pedal adjustment and a full inspection.

Cleaning: $150-250
Cleaning includes scrubbing the strings, vacuuming, wiping down the plate, soundboard, keybed and keys, polish of pedals, and a rub down of the case. Cleaning price depends on the state of the piano. We can provide additional case cleaning and restaining upon request.

General shopwork is $100/hr plus parts.
This can include but is not limited to:
-Keytop replacement and buffing
-Ivory chip fills
-Key bushing replacement
-Lyre repair and reconditioning
-Leg repair
-Castor replacement
-Bridge cap repair
-Full and partial restringing
-Damper replacement
-Replacement of pinblock
-Replacement and regulation of hammers and dampers
-Action parts replacement and regulation
-Voicing
-Wooden case repair

In addition to working on pianos, Britney has experience tuning and repairing Yamaha and Kawai hybrid pianos, old Yamaha CP-60 series, Fender Rhodes, and more. Prices vary.

“I was embarrassed that my piano had been so neglected for many years (decades?), but Britney was kind, understanding and professional. She gave my old upright a full tuning and suggested next steps for maintenance without pushing for more work.” -Drew, 2021
